The HSJ reported this month that Monitor had been in discussion with foundation trusts over funding for business academies to train clinicians for senior NHS management roles.

I think given the current and historical view of NHS managers (certainly the 'press view' anyway) that a solution to bring clinicians into managerial roles can only help raise the profile.
But do clinicians make good managers? I suppose this is why an academy is needed for them!
Why would doctors want to move into managerial roles anyway? Less money and more hassle!
