British author Geoff Dyer wins prestigious US National Book Critics Circle Award

Geoff's book Otherwise Known as the Human Condition won the NBCC Criticism Award. Otherwise Known as the Human Condition: Selected Essays and Reviews (Graywolf Press) was praised by NBCC judges as: 'celebrating critic par excellence who showed his love of his various subject in tour-de-force language.'

The NBCC Awards honour the best literature in English in six categories: autobiography, biography, criticism, fiction, non-fiction and poetry. They are the only US awards for which non-US authors are eligible, and the longlists, shortlists and winners are selected by the critics in the Circle.

The awards are given annually, in March.
